Lay off guys….

Lately we have been getting a lot of angry mail from guys complaining that we are making fun of contemporary music at a time when “the future of music is threatened by the collapse of western civilization.” Or something…

OK. Sorry for being so obviously low minded. Yes. We know there is a problem. Sorry guys, and we know it’s guys. Since everything went on-line and freed up all the time you used to spend rearranging your record and CD collections, you’ve been wasting other people’s time with elaborate, inane criticism.

We, the New Canaan Bugle Quartet, are (is?) not the source of your knock-up. Contemporary Classical Music and historical Classical Music now have more talented composers and professional musicians than any time in the past. The music is great, and widely available. In general, audiences love it. They love it in all its wonderful, odd manifestations.

The problem is the distribution of music has been monopolized, and corporate monopiles are taking all the money. “The pump won’t work cause the vandals took the handle.” That is what has to change.

What we need is more music, men, and more money in the hands of composers and musicians.
It’s time to make music a talent and skill that earns a fair return.
